About Us
Our goal
The mission of the Socrates Educational Foundation is to preserve and promote Hellenic culture and heritage by providing financial support for the advancement of trilingual education ( French, English and Greek) in schools throughout Canada.
“
EDUCATING THE MIND WITHOUT EDUCATING THE HEART IS NO EDUCATION AT ALL
- Aristotle
The Socrates Educational Foundation (SEF) was the brainchild of a group of parents of École Primaire Socrates in Montreal, Quebec and the then General Director of the school,Mrs. Eleni Papadeas-Papadopoulos (deceased).
The path to create the Foundation and to receive its charitable status through Charities Canada, was an arduous one.
That endeavor was greatly assisted by a friend of the school, Mr. Constantine Anastasopoulos. The cost of becoming a legalized entity was covered by the Parent Committees of all four campuses of the École Primaire Socrates as well as individual parents.
