Papadatos, Olga

President

Olga’s volunteerism started in early adolescence as a member of her church’s choir. After graduating from McGill University (BSc’ 76) she entered the banking sector (CIBC). While raising her 3 children she served on the board of the Hellenic Ladies Benevolent Society (philanthropic organization). During the time her children attended Socrates School, Platon-Omeros (Supplementary Education) and thereafter Royal West Academy, she devoted time on numerous Parents Committees and School Committees. She has volunteered in the Hellenic Community of Montreal as a member of the Advisory Board and the Election Committee. She is a founder and was instrumental in the creation of The Socrates Educational Foundation. She has served on its board, in different capacities, since its inception.

Kyriacou, Jamie

Treasurer

Jamie is a Socrates and Aristotelis alumna. In 2011, she became a member of the Board of Directors of the Socrates Educational Foundation. In 2017, she accepted the position of treasurer and has since held that position. She is a registered nurse at the McGill University Health Centre since 2015.

Vruvides, Xenia

Board Member

Xenia Vruvides is a retired Noise Control engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Building Studies from Concordia University. Having worked for renowned companies such as SNC in Montreal, Yard Inc. in Ottawa and Silentec in Montreal, Xenia honed her engineering skills. She now channels her passion into the world of art and creativity. She has served as the president of the Kirkland Artists’ Association (2011-2013), owned an art gallery (2010-2015), and has been a dedicated art instructor since 2006, all while embracing art as the focal point of her life. Her two daughters are graduates of the Socrates-Demosthenes School where Xenia served in the Parents’ Committee for many years.

Chrissulis, Denise

VP Internal

Denise is a graduate of McGill University with a Science degree in Clinical Nutrition. Denise is a proud parent of three children who are graduates of the Socrates Demosthenes school and has volunteered for many years at Parent Committee level as well at the HCGM. Denise is proud to be part of the Socrates Educational Foundation whose mission is to promote trilingual education.

Lazaratos-Liakas,  Eva

Board Member

Eva has been a Socrates Foundation board member since 2012. During her over 40 years of work experience at CIBC, including Branch Manager in addition to Senior Business Advisor for Small and Medium Enterprises, Eva volunteered with charitable organizations sponsored and promoted by the Bank. She also dedicated her time as a board member of the Kastorian Association and, grateful for all who have touched her family over the years, continues to support various foundations and hospitals. Her favourite pastimes include reading, yoga, and line dancing.

Sifakis, Peggy

BOD Chair – Funding Chair

Peggy Kappos Sifakis is a retired business woman who continues to serve her community through volunteer work. In the 1980s, she was a member of the board of the CLSC Park-ex and Liberal Party Association.  She joined the Parents Committee of Socrates III and served as a board member of HCGM from 2000-2002 as well as the Hellenic Ladies Benevolent. Presently she is a member of the board of the SEF and has been since its founding

Kakouratos, Sophia

Assistant Secretary

Sophia Kakouratos’ involvement in the field of education has spanned the better part of the last 47 years. This has included the following on a professional level: 13 years of teaching, 6 years of school-level administration and 18 years of School Board level administration in Human Resources. After retirement from the English Montreal School Board, she has continued her involvement in education as a field supervisor for student teachers who are working on their practicum at McGill University. She also participates in the mentorship program for new administrators at the EMSB. Her passionate belief in the importance of the quality education that we offer our children has led her to support the mission of the Socrates Educational Foundation. It is through education that we support future generations to flourish and progress.

Eleftheratos-Acheson, Denise

VP External

Denise has been actively involved with the Parent Teacher’s Committee as of 2007 and has been appointed as President since 2016. From the very beginning, Denise’s main objective through her engagement with the PTA was to create a welcoming environment for students that fosters a sense of community within the school. Denise has been teaching Greek dancing for the past 35 years and has had the pleasure of teaching our students at the Socrates-Demosthenes schools. Her desire to lend a helping hand can also be seen through the various charitable initiatives she has partaken in, including raising money for breast cancer, feeding the homeless, putting up Christmas trees for senior citizens living alone, sponsoring children to attend school, among many others.

Kokinasidis, Nancy

Anastasia (Nancy) Kokinasidis, Kirkland city councilor (district 3), is a second-generation Greek in Montreal, mother of 2 graduates of Socrates schools and chairperson for the city of Kirkland environmental committee. As well as being an entrepreneur in the transportation industry, her passion is to help others succeed in their endeavours, encourage young children to pursue their passion for a greater education and to embrace the Greek language and culture

Papadatos, Constantine 

Secretary

A graduate of Socrates III (2004), Costa completed his bachelor’s degree in Physics from Concordia University (BSc ’14) and subsequently went on to pursue his master’s and doctoral degrees at the Université de Montréal (MSc ’16, PhD ’22), specializing in the use of semiconductor detectors in particle physics experiments. He spent the years of his graduate studies conducting and publishing his research as a member of the ATLAS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Since 2019, he has been employed as a physics professor at Vanier College, where he has been able to put his dedication to education into practice. When he is not teaching or responding to student emails, Costa enjoys playing guitar and writing music that no one will likely ever hear.

Papadatos, Nicholas

An IIROC licensed Investment Representative at CIBC Wood Gundy, Nick has over 15 years of experience in the financial services and wealth management industry where he specializes in quantitative analysis, tax and performance reporting as well as asset allocation strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the John Molson School of Business, Majoring in Finance with a Minor in Marketing, and is currently a level 2 CFA candidate. Having graduated from Socrates III in 1996, Nick fully benefited from all that the community school offers in promoting Hellenism and molding the values he holds today. It’s for this reason he decided to send his children as well, making them third generation attendees of the schools. In his free time, Nick enjoys playing hockey with many other Socrates school alumni.

Sacciadis, Sophia

Board Member

Sophia Sacciadis is a McGill graduate and worked at École Primaire Socrates-Démosthène for thirty-nine years before her retirement in 2021. She is also a former student of the same school, as are her husband and son. Sophia is a new BOD member of the Socrates Educational Foundation but has always been a supportive member. She believes that École Socrates- Démosthène not only provides a trilingual education but simultaneously instills in students a sense of identity that is a priceless acquisition for any child.
